Meet the Author

Jahson is a Trinidadian born poet and author of dual nationality (British). He grew up on the south side of Trinidad before moving to London, UK.

He is an ardent advocate of writing personal stories to foster inner growth, empathy and understanding between people and cultures. He religiously promotes the use of writing, as a cathartic tool for managing people’s mental wellness.

Jahson proudly credits the pulsating multicultural lifestyles of Trinidad & Tobago, inclusive of Carnival, Divali, Eid, Rastafarianism, Chinese culture and Christian festivals as the most impactful and fundamental influences on his expressive style and relatively tolerant cultural outlook.

During the years residing in England and travelling Europe, he was exposed to a fusion of African, European, Urban American and other Caribbean cultures. He states that this exposure has given his writing a “global village feel and flavour’”.

Professionally, Jahson’s first degree was in Social Work; he then specialised in Advanced Mental Practice, at master’s level whilst in the UK. He has worked and continues to work in the field for over 20 years.

Jahson noted that this type of professional exposure has helped him to see and accept the humanity in all folks. He said it helps him to “articulate and narrate, why they feel how they feel, and do what they do”.
